Is consumer credit counseling really as important as Congress seems to think - after all, they passed a law making it mandatory to seek consumer credit counseling before you can file for bankruptcy. So what makes credit counseling so special? An information clearinghouse Any place on earth that exists solely for the purpose of educating anyone who is interested is special. These types of places are wonderful and should be taken advantage of by us all. Why do so many of us steer clear of information that could clearly help us top make better decisions in the future? This is exactly what consumer credit counseling is, it is only a service that provides us with the information that we need to decide how best to handle our debt and get out of it as soon as we can. Most of us do not what options are available to us. We just slide through life hoping that the answer will show itself, that we will win the lottery, or that our rich aunt will remember us in her will. But, we have to be a bit more proactive if we really want to get this taken care of.
