Debt Management Programs
If you're in debt and there's no foreseeable end in sight, at least have the foresight to check out a debt management program. It can take years off the amount of time you spend in debt and save you thousands of dollars of interest in the process.
Benefits of Debt Management Programs
Although there are five different kinds of debt management programs, there are similarities with most. For example:
- Most debt management programs can get you out of debt in five years or less.
- Most debt management programs save you thousands of dollars in interest rates, finance charges and fees.
- Most debt management programs can get your creditors to stop harassing you.
Let's start by explaining the first bullet point of this debt management solution. If you go with a debt consolidation program, it will take you five years to pay off all of your unsecured debt. If you get a debt consolidation loan, you can pay off all your debt at once with the loan, but it will take five years to pay the loan off. A debt consolidation mortgage pays off your unsecured debts, but then tacks that amount of money to your mortgage. So the immediate problem of multiple creditors is taken care of all at once, but the debt is still there. It's just more manageable. With debt settlement, your debt is negotiated down to an amount of cash you have access to, thereby enabling you to pay it off all at once.
Now, on to the second bullet point. All of the debt management programs mentioned above get you a lower interest rate, whether it's through negotiation with your creditors or the reduced rate that they charge you. Period. End of story.
Finally, the last bullet point. With debt consolidation, your debt management professional will be able to get your creditors to stop calling you. With all other options, your creditors are paid off right away, so they're happy, and therefore will stop bugging you.
Hopefully these benefits will convince you to learn more about which debt management program is right for you.
